Cookie policy

At Extra, we value transparency. In compliance with current regulations, here is everything you need to know about the various types of cookies and which ones we use on our website.

Extended Cookie Policy for the website www.extrasys.it

Pursuant to EU Regulation 2016/679 and Article 13 of Legislative Decree No. 196/03, known as GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation), this policy explains what cookies are and describes the various types of cookies on the website www.extrasys.it (hereafter, the “Site”). It also complements the data processing policy available at https://www.extrasys.it/privacy-policy-en.

Cookies are small text files that websites visited by the user send and store on their computer or mobile device, to be sent back to the same websites on subsequent visits. Thanks to cookies, a website can remember the user’s actions and preferences (such as login data, chosen language, font size, and other display settings) so that they do not have to be re-entered when the user returns to the site or navigates from one page to another. Cookies are used to perform computer authentication, session tracking, and to store information about the activities of users accessing a website. They may also contain a unique identifier code that tracks the user’s navigation within the site for statistical or advertising purposes. During navigation on a site, the user may also receive cookies from websites or web servers other than the one they are visiting (known as “third-party” cookies). Some operations could not be performed without the use of cookies, which are sometimes technically necessary for the functioning of the site.

There are various types of cookies, depending on their characteristics and functions, which can remain on the user’s computer or mobile device for different periods; these cookies can be classified as follows:

  • “Session” cookies, which are deleted immediately when the browser is closed;
  • “Persistent” cookies, which remain in the browser for a specified period. They are used, for example, to recognize the device that connects to a site, facilitating user authentication;
  • “First-party” cookies, generated and managed directly by the website operator on which the user is browsing;
  • “Third-party” cookies, generated and managed by entities other than the website operator on which the user is browsing.

According to current Italian regulations, user consent is not always required for the use of cookies. In particular, “technical” cookies do not require such consent, meaning those used solely to carry out the transmission of a communication over an electronic communication network or to the extent strictly necessary to provide a service explicitly requested by the user. In other words, these are indispensable cookies for the functioning of the site or necessary to perform activities requested by the user.

Among technical cookies that do not require express consent for their use, the Italian Data Protection Authority (see General Provision “Simplified Arrangements to Provide Information and Obtain Consent Regarding Cookies – May 8, 2014”) also includes:

  • “Analytics cookies” when used directly by the site operator to collect information, in aggregate form, about the number of users and how they visit the site;
  • Navigation or session cookies (for authentication, to make a purchase, etc.);
  • Functionality cookies, which allow users to navigate according to a set of selected criteria (e.g., language, products selected for purchase) to improve the service provided to them.

Conversely, for “profiling” cookies, i.e., those aimed at creating profiles related to the user and used to send advertising messages in line with the preferences expressed by the user during web navigation, prior consent from the user is required.

Cookies used on the Site

The Site may use the following types of cookies:

  • First-party, session, and persistent cookies necessary for navigation on the Site, for internal security, and system administration purposes;
  • Third-party, non-persistent cookies to protect the Site from spam;
  • Third-party, persistent cookies used by the Site to send statistical information to analytics systems, through which the Owner can perform statistical analyses of access/visits to the Site.

This site only uses essential technical cookies necessary for its proper functioning. No analytical or profiling cookies are installed.
